Car Salesman Beaten, Tied Up In Trunk, Turns Tables On Car Jackers

January 6, 2016 3 Comments

A terrifying situation took place in the Houston area when a car salesman from an FCA store left on a test drive and ended up tied up in the trunk.

Jose Martinez, 21, a salesman at Gillman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, was beaten and shoved into the trunk of a Dodge Challenger all leaving the lot for a test drive with a potential customer. According to NBCNews, Martinez took the would-be car shopper for a test drive, however, the man soon thereafter stopped the vehicle and hit the car salesman in the face. Just after the attack occurred, a male accomplice arrived and both men used tape and a belt to tie up the salesman and stuffed him into the trunk of the car. The two suspects attempted to flee in the Challenger, but the car salesman pulled an emergency trunk latch while the vehicle was moving and was able to get out. However, when the salesman got himself out of the trunk, one of the suspects pointed at gun at him.

Amazingly, the car salesman then somehow wrestled the gun away from the suspect and fired one shot, hitting one of the assailants, who fled in the dealership vehicle. In his own words, Martinez told KHOU, “His friend (second suspect) came in and he had a gun. He dropped it, because he doesn’t know how to fight whatsoever. I fired at him, and the other guy started running. The gun had no more bullets in it.”

Martinez used a GPS tracking function on his phone to let his friend know where he was and purposefully left the phone in the vehicle so police could find the car. NBC News indicated police were eventually led to the area where the stolen vehicle was but the suspects got away. Martinez is currently resting at home with multiple fractures to his nose and cuts all over his body.

We at DrivingSales News wish Martinez a speedy recovery and hope this type of incident does not occur in the future.

Definitely a typo and my mistake. Thanks for letting us know and congrats on the Innovation Cup win.

Your title is a little confusing – “New Record: 17.47 Million Vehicles Sold In 2016”. Just wondering if this is a prediction, or a typo and you meant to say how many were sold in 2015. Hmmm….
