Dealer Gives Car Accident Victim An SUV

This story begins with Savannah Peterson sitting on her front porch, while her father-in-law told tells her Dick Garber, the owner of the Garber Management Group that owns a few dealerships in the Saginaw, Michigan area where Savannah and her family reside, has given her a car. The vehicle donated is a shiny 2012 Chevrolet Traverse valued at $20,000. Peterson was moved with emotion when she got the news because life has been difficult lately.

Peterson’s family was involved in a terrifying car accident in which a vehicle crossed the median and hit them head-on. The force of the crash killed two people in the other vehicle, and injured another. Her family of four was traveling in a SUV and suffered injuries. Her daughter and her have felt lingering effects of the crash. Another challenge is that the family vehicle she and her fiancée use to get to their restaurant jobs was destroyed. It was a much more hopeless time before a dealer gave her family a much-needed vehicle.

Speaking to the Saginaw News, Dick Garber said this gift is his group’s way of paying it forward. “We’re really blessed as a company,” Garber told the local paper. “We’ve had so much support from the community. That has put us in the position to do more.” What it is that Garber and his group has done is more than give the gift of an automobile, for Peterson, he’s restored something that had surely been lost: hope. Speaking about the incident Peterson told MLive, “I’ve been really down. I’m thinking I’ve lost everything and how am I going to bounce back? It’s given me hope. It lifted my spirits. I’m truly blessed.”

This story was an excellent example of a dealer doing good things in their community. With this outreach, Garber is helping Peterson and her family not only get around, but helping her and her fiancée to get to work which will help them pay their medical bills and move on with their lives after the accident.
