Facebook Adds ‘Call Now’ Button For Local Awareness Ads

Facebook has added another helpful feature for local business advertisers with its new “Call Now” button, which redirects mobile customers to their phone dialer for a call to the business. This new ad functionality is part of Facebook’s “local awareness” objective, which the company launched in October 2014, and describes as its first advertising objective that was created explicitly for local businesses.

The ads are convenient for local businesses to use, and can be created directly from Facebook Pages. Most auto dealerships’ websites have a “specials” section where they include service offers and cars on sale. Facebook’s ad product could be a very effective choice for advertising these specials, with a “Call Now” button to offer a quick and direct method to contact them immediately. These ads allow marketers to target users when they are near their business, or to target those who live in the area. Facebook explains such ads reach “more people in your area per dollar spent than with any other kind of advertising, including newspaper or direct mail.”

The new “Call Now” button is the latest addition to the local business ad product, which also allows businesses to include a “Like” button for their Page, as well as a “Get Directions” button, which loads the mobile phone’s mapping application to guide a user to the location of the business.

Page owners will find the new ad creator under the “Promote Your Local Business” button on their Page. Once they select a call to action, such as Like This Page, Call Now, or Get Directions, they can set the area that they want to reach and pick a budget. It’s that simple to create one of these ads.

Subsequently, some statistics on the ads can be seen in the Page’s notification panel, including how many people have been reached and how many people clicked through on a call to action.
