Faraday Future EVs On The Road By 2020 | DrivingSales News

Faraday Future Vehicles On The Road By 2020

December 2, 2015 0 Comments

The most mysterious electric car company in the world is surrounded with secrecy and theories, but they have now released important information related to the production of their electric vehicles.

In a report from TheVerge, the senior vice president of research & development at Faraday Future Nick Sampson said the automaker would have a vehicle on the road by 2020. Speaking to TheVerge, Sampson was asked if Faraday would have vehicles on the road by 2020, to which he replied, “absolutely.”

What those vehicles look like or how many models there are is still a large mystery. As we reported previously, Faraday is building a $1 billion factory in the U.S. and Sampson, speaking of the Faraday fleet said, “We will launch a single model and follow with a range of vehicles in a faster way than others have achieved. We’re looking at seven different vehicles.” Could Faraday put more than one model on the road by 2020? No info on that subject has been made public, however, it’s clear from the interaction with TheVerge that Sampson and Faraday are looking into the future when they build their vehicles.

Speaking of the future Sampson said, “Imagine the future and the environment you want to be in and the world that you want to create and then work out how would I get to that place, a world where the car knows me knows my needs. If I plan something on one device why shouldn’t that be available on another device?”

Sampson also touched on the notion that vehicle usage in the future might be more communal than personal. Sampson explained, “Yes there will be cars that have single owners but in the future there will be a vast number of people who don’t want to own a car anymore. We might instead of owning a car it would be a subscription.”

The Internet has been ablaze with theories that Faraday Future is a front for Apple; however, Sampson sees them and others in the electric vehicle space as “allies.”

Sampson said, “To me it’s a great thing that some of those other companies are coming into the industry. The more people that join, the more the consumers will realize the opportunities that are available and the swing will accelerate.”

Finally, TheVerge got very close to a Faraday Future prototype, which was draped in a black sheet. For the time being, Faraday Future has promised a lot of EVs and has over 400 employees, the next few years should prove to be very revealing for the mysterious automaker.

Will Faraday Future reach their goal to have their vehicles on the road by 2020? Furthermore, do you think the EV automaker can produce seven different vehicles in their fleet? Is that goal too ambitious for an automaker startup?
