FCA Responds To Dealer Lawsuit Twice | DrivingSales News

FCA Responds To Dealer Group Lawsuit, Again

January 15, 2016 2 Comments

We reported just yesterday a dealer group is suing Fiat Chrysler over allegedly being pushed to falsify sales. FCA spoke out about the suit again and had this to say.

As we told you previously the Napleton auto group is suing FCA US over allegations that the automaker asked them to falsify sales numbers. We also told you FCA did respond, however, later the same day the automaker responded again. In a press release dated the same day as the first one, FCA released more information about their opinion on the lawsuit, which is gaining the attention of the media.

In a statement, FCA wrote in part, “Notwithstanding numerous requests to provide evidence of this alleged activity, the plaintiffs have refused to substantiate their claims. FCA US carried out an investigation of the facts, and has determined that these allegations are baseless and plaintiffs were notified of this fact before they filed suit.”

FCA also questioned the entire merit of the suit, claiming it’s the action of disgruntled dealer partners. In the statement, FCA also said, “This lawsuit is nothing more than the product of two disgruntled dealers who have failed to perform their obligations under the dealer agreements they signed with FCA US.”

Not to be outdone, FCA finished their release by criticizing the media for covering the story. That part of the FCA release read, “FCA finds it unfortunate and disappointing that reputable media would be willing to be used in questionable litigation practices without a full understanding of the facts.”

It isn’t often that an automaker disseminates a press release responding to a lawsuit. It’s even less common for it to happen twice and to have the tone become more pointed the second time. We will continue to follow this story as it develops.

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. If I owned a dealership I would never ever service a vehicle bought through this sight. The dealer body is who sells the vehicles not the manufacturer. I would hope that the dealer body stops selling and buying the new vehicles for like 60-90 days and I bet GM would removed this program. It is a horrible idea and not a good deal for the customer. The customer will end up spending more money, period!!

The Mafia Strikes again, Illegal? Unethical for sure but that never stopped them before. FCA would be better to pony up than to let this out in a public trial. They’ve made a mess and now it is time for them to sweep it under the rug.
