December 9, 2015 0 Comments

General Motors has recognized a man who was injured serving his nation by giving him a vehicle so new; he was awarded the vehicle before it was built.

Trent Brining was selected by General Motors CEO, Mary Barra, to receive a 2016 Chevy Malibu. The 2016 model was so new, when Barra and executive vice president and president of GM North America, Alan Batey, awarded Brining the vehicle, it didn’t yet exist. In a ceremony at General Motors headquarters, Barra told Brining, “For all that you have done and for your loyalty to Chevrolet. We’d like to show our gratitude and recognition of your young and growing family, Alan is going to present you with keys to an all new 2016 Chevy Malibu … soon to be produced.”

Brining served in the Army and as Barra explained, is certainly deserving of praise for giving his all to serve his country. Speaking at GM headquarters, Barra said, “Trent Brining is a retired Army corporal and a purple heart recipient…Trent was seriously injured in 2005 after being struck by a rocket-propelled grenade during his second deployment in Iraq. He has since undergone 23 surgeries to his arms and legs.”

The vehicle will be a welcome addition to Brining’s growing family. As Bringing told WDAF, ” I think any family it would be a huge blessing to receive a vehicle like this, it definitely will be a huge one for us. I mean what a great vehicle I just hope I’m smart enough to figure out how to use it.”

General Motors will honor four other individuals across the nation and give them a new Chevy Malibu. What does it mean to you to see a man like Brining receive both recognition for his efforts serving the country and a brand new sedan?
