Survey: Consumers Want Dealers To Bid On Their Business

March 24, 2015 0 Comments

A recent survey by sawpalease.com surveyed 2,500 drivers and car shoppers across the U.S. The questions centered on what these consumers would like from the car shopping experience in the future. This survey took place online between February 20th and March 15th of this year. According to the results of the survey, consumers would like to have dealers bid on their business.

Sixty-six percent of men and 56 percent of women polled want to have a process in place wherein dealerships can bid for a sale. Essentially the consumers would identify the car they want and dealers would have a chance to submit bids on what they would pay for the vehicle. Thirty-five percent of women who were surveyed are interested in looking at vehicles at a dealership and then going home and completing the car leasing or buying process online. Coupled with result is 33 percent of men would like to buy/lease a vehicle without ever having to step foot on a dealership lot.

Of those surveyed, 66 percent (both genders) want to see all of their financing options online ahead before they step foot on a dealership lot. From that statistic, 45 percent of men and 27 percent of women want to see lenders bidding on their financing options before they travel to a physical dealership.

Leasing was an important topic of the survey as 51 percent of men polled want to be able to get out of a lease with 90 days notice. Fifty-four percent of women would like to enter into a lease with a month-to-month option and no other extended terms.

Both genders reportedly felt that rear back-up cameras (65 percent) and in-car Wi-Fi (60 percent) will be the options that will influence their car buying habits in the future. Lane-departure warnings were important to 51 percent of men polled, while it was a key feature for just 31 percent of women.

Car sharing company Uber made it into the survey. Forty-three percent of those polled would be interested in using Uber or a company like it at some point and 37 percent of those surveyed are interested in autonomous driving.
