Turn Your Facebook Page Into A Website With Pager App

During Techcrunch’s 24-hour Disrupt NY Hackathon, a team of three engineers developed an app to allow users to turn their Facebook Pages into more traditional websites.

Small dealerships and other small businesses may not have the time or the expertise that is required to maintain a website. The new Pager app allows users to easily take their existing Facebook Page and turn it into a website, where everything is sorted into four categories – About, News, Events and Galleries. The About page will display the contact info and opening hours, the News page will display wall posts, and the Events and Galleries pages will display the corresponding sections from the Facebook Page.

The Pager app was developed by Alex Ilea, Anton Shevchenko and Darrel-Day Guerrero. The three engineers have worked together in the past, before participating in the hackathon, and there is the possibility that the team will continue expanding this project in the future.

TechCrunch has reported that it’s very simple for Facebook Page owners to use the app. Once a user starts the Pager app, they must log in using their Facebook account. They will then see a list of their existing Facebook Pages. A user can simply pick a Page, then save, and the website is automatically live.

The app is still in its early stages, and the team explains that although not everything works just yet, they have put into effect all of the underlying code that leverages the Facebook API. “We were pretty productive until one or two A.M…then it was harder,” Ilea said.

Many dealerships who don’t want to spend hours maintaining a website might find the Pager app to be a helpful tool, once the final details are sorted out. A business can continue with their Facebook social media strategies and have all of the information automatically displayed on the corresponding website. This will save them time and money by allowing them to have an up-to-date website based on their Facebook Page updates and posts, without the need to create a standalone website in another way.

Hopefully the team will finalize the remaining details in the near future so that all of the functionality works. If they do, many dealerships and other small businesses can utilize the app to easily create and maintain websites based on their existing Facebook Pages. We’ll be watching for updates from the Pager app development team as they become available.
