Car Salesman Robbed At Gunpoint In Dealership Office

August 17, 2015 0 Comments

A would-be car shopper robbed two dealership employees and most of it was caught on camera. The robbery was committed at Auto Outlet of Ewing in Ewing, New Jersey by a suspect described as an African-American male between 30 and 50 years old, missing his upper-left teeth wearing a gray sweatsuit and wearing black-rimmed glasses and a baseball cap. The suspect came to the store and talked to one of the salesmen about a vehicle purchase. The suspect came into the office and then went outside to look at a 1998 Lexus LS 400 with a salesperson.

Once the suspect and dealership employee came back into the office, the salesperson asked the suspect for his ID. After fishing around in his pants pockets, the man suddenly pulled a handgun from the front of his pants and pointed it at the head of the salesperson. The suspect ordered the salesman to go into the next room with another employee. The suspect then robbed both men and took petty cash from the dealership leaving the store with that 98 Lexus LS 400. The dealership owner reportedly started to run after the suspect before another employee told him the man had a gun.

However, this crime didn’t get the car thief very far.

After the suspect stole the Lexus, he abandoned it five minutes from the scene of the crime. The suspect got away, however, the vehicle did get their used car back with no damage sustained to the car. Actually, the dealership sold the Lexus for $5,495, some 24 hours after the robbery occurred. The dealership is now offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

We’ve reported on a lot of dealership crimes lately, meaning crimes that took place against a dealership employee on the job or at the store. Do you think these types of crimes are on the rise or simply making the news more often in today’s 24 hour Twitter-infused news cycle?
