YouTube Keyword Tool Replaced By AdWords Tool
Google Replaces YouTube Keyword Tool With AdWords Display Planner  Tool
Google has now officially removed the YouTube keyword tool, following the company’s recent alert on its website that stated, “The YouTube ads keyword tool will be disabled on September 1st. We recommend using the Display Planner in AdWords for video keyword suggestions.”
Strangely, however, while the alert directed people to the Display Planner, the current YouTube keyword tool simply displays the following 404 error at this time:
In the Display Planner, you can still select it to only show video keywords by selecting “Video” from the “Ad formats and sizes” filter for individual targeting ideas.
Advertisers must have an AdWords account to use the Google Display Planner, however, AdWords accounts are free and you can access all of the keyword tools without running any advertisements.
Once you log in to your AdWords account and go to the Display Planner, enter a keyword (or several) and click on “Get Ad Group Ideas”. The following screen will then be displayed, where you can set the filter to only look at keywords for video and to see keywords under the “Individual targeting ideas” tab.
For those who are accustomed to using the YouTube keyword tool, it will take some adjustment to get used to using the Display Planner. It’s not quite as simple anymore as entering a set of keywords and pressing a button. However, the Display Planner tool will provide marketers with efficient and robust functionality once they get comfortable with the new interface.
