Ford and Carfax have expanded their relationship. Their previous relationship made Carfax vehicle history reports available to buyers of Ford and Lincoln Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles. To add to the partnership, all Ford and Lincoln CPO cars will now be listed in the Used Car listing on the Carfax website. This means car shoppers will find a free Carfax vehicle history report to go with their CPO vehicle. Ford is now listed as the brand with the most vehicles for sale on the used car sales part of the Carfax website with 329,147 — followed by Chevrolet with 327,031. A press release about the new partnership indicates sales of Ford and Lincoln Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles have increased over 50% since the start of the partnership with Carfax. However, no numbers were provided to support that data.

Joe Koenig, Vice President of Car Fax said, “Our relationship with Ford goes well beyond providing vehicle history. It’s about giving dealers the tools they need to help manage inventory risk, build consumer confidence, drive more customer traffic and increase revenue. Seeing the Ford and Lincoln CPO programs thrive also is further proof that Carfax helps dealers sell more cars faster.”

Currently 38 Manufacturer brand CPO programs currently use Carfax reports as part of their used car sales package. The question is, whether or not consumers see a free Carfax report as a very helpful perk or something that they would rather do themselves?
