Subaru Dealer Helps Widow Following Husband’s Death

October 8, 2015 0 Comments

A dealership in Michigan decided to reach out to a woman who recently lost her husband, a firefighter, and is expecting their child.

Williams Auto World, a Subaru, Audi and Volkswagen store donated a 2016 Subaru Forester to Kate Rodeman, who recently lost her husband. Rodeman’s husband, Dennis Rodeman, was a firefighter who was murdered while collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association as part of a Fill-the-Boot campaign. Rodeman was run down and killed by a man driving a truck who said that he was slowing down traffic. Kate is pregnant with the Rodeman’s first child.

Rodeman is being given the 2016 Forester with three years of payments and insurance completely covered. The vehicle is being given to Kate Rodeman as part of three-year lease from Williams Auto World. Multiple insurance companies, including Rathbun, are donating three years of free insurance and vehicle maintenance to Kate as part of the gift.

Jeff Williams, Vice President of Williams Auto World, told WLNS, “To be able to support her and get her started with her with her new unborn child and get her in a safe vehicle that’s going to be good for her for the next several years, it meant the world to us.” Williams reportedly heard about the tragic death of Kate’s husband and found out she was in need of a new vehicle. In a time of great need and heavy sorrow, Williams and his store stepped in to help a woman who just experienced a tragedy.

What do you make of their gift? Is this offer for Mrs. Rodeman an ideal example of “dealers doing good?” Finally, what other examples have you seen of dealers doing good things in their community?
