Twitter has launched a free app for iOS and Android to help small and medium-sized businesses with effectively utilizing the powerful social network as a marketing tool.

Advertising on Twitter is an expensive endeavor, which is generally beyond the financial means of most small businesses, whether they are working in the automotive industry or other sectors. With the release of the Small Business Planner mobile app, these businesses will now have access to a wealth of information to assist them with making the most out of the time spent using Twitter to expand the reach of their business or brand.

Twitter’s new app is free to use, and provides businesses with a large amount of research information, success stories, blog articles and e-books to increase their understanding about how to create a successful campaign. Additionally, the app contains interactive features, such as a calendar that can be synced to users’ personal calendars, which provides campaign suggestions, content ideas, information about online SMB events and other tips about using Twitter. There is also an in-app social network, which is separate from the public Twitter stream, featuring updates from Twitter’s SMB team as well as providing a place for users to ask questions and share ideas with other business owners who are using the app.

Marketers at car dealerships can utilize these features to stay closely connected to the Twitter campaigns that they are currently involved with, as well as using the app as a resource for invaluable information to not only better understand what is possible, but also to learn tips from the positive and negative experiences of other small business owners. Additionally, marketers at car dealerships can create their own custom agenda to stay inspired and organized throughout their Twitter campaigns, as well as being able to share this information with everyone who is involved with them in these initiatives. The mobile app is currently available for small and medium-sized businesses in North America, the UK and Ireland.

Twitter’s blog announcement lists the following four primary aspects of the Small Business Planner mobile app:

  • Browse a daily calendar themed around four main topics: Tweet suggestions, Twitter Ads strategies, information on Twitter tools, and exclusive events
  • Add the most relevant topics to your own agenda, which syncs with your personal device calendar; now you can keep track of Twitter alongside all of your other marketing activities
  • Access additional resources such as research, success stories, blog articles and e-books directly within the app
  • Be the first to know about new #SmallGoesBig initiatives

Overall, Twitter’s new app is designed to help SMB marketers stay organized and run successful campaigns on the social network while learning new methods to allow them to make the most out of their time spent on Twitter.
