What Nearly 23% of Americans Think Of Driverless Cars May Surprise You
A June 2014 Survey by Insurance.com polled 2,000 adult drivers about self-driving cars. The results say one thing that we already know, money talks.22.4 Percent of those polled would be very likely to buy an autonomous capable vehicle. 24.5% said that they never would. But what if they can save money? If insurance rates were 80% cheaper 37.5% of drivers would go the self-driving route.
When it come to their children, however, the majority of drivers stand opposed to the innovation. 76.2% of drivers said that they wouldn’t trust an autonomous car to drive their children to school. In the strangest question in the survey, 79% of drivers voted that they would program their vehicle to hit another car verses 21% who voted to hit a pedestrian in the case of an inevitable crash. Finally the majority of respondents, 72.9% said that the car of 2040 will not operate anything like the car of today.
