Nick Saban, the head football coach at the University of Alabama, collaborated with a local dealership to sell a customized van. Saban worked with Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham to craft signature Sprinter vans outfitted for tailgating. For $200,000, Alabama and Nick Saban enthusiasts can purchase these mean machines specifically tailored for high-end luxury tailgating. The van description, according to AL.com is a vehicle, ”decked out with three TVs, high-tech audio and video systems and a cooler.”

Other premium touches include hardwood flooring, high-grain leather and massage chairs. The vehicle fits seven people and has recliner-styled heated seats and a 48-inch 4K-curved LED TV. The collaboration between Saban and the dealership was due to a family connection as well as the fact that Saban is a partner with the store. Saban’s son Nicholas Saban is also the AMG specialist at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham.

Saban himself worked with the dealer on color and design for the Nick Saban Signature Sprinters and is pleased with the result. Saban, according to AL.com told guests at the Mercedes store, “There’s a standard that we want to do things to. After looking at what they produced, I’m extremely pleased and proud and happy.” The dealership presented the new $200,000 vans on social media through a professional video and extensive photo gallery. According to the Mercedes-Benz website, a 2016 Sprinter Van with all available options tops out at just over $50,000, thus the upgrades to the Nick Saban Signature Sprinter are meant to be worth around $150,000.

The creation of a Nick Saban signature series van led to a spoof video for Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen. In the video, a DSLR shows close-up HD video footage of a 2005 heavily used Honda Element. The everyday vehicle is described as “a true game changer in the moderately priced, yet sporty used car arena.”
